The MGP12X is the 12-channel console in the MGP Series. 6 microphone inputs are provided and 12 line inputs (4 mono and 4 stereo). Each channel can be routed to 2 aux sends for monitor mixes and 2 FX sends for the built-in effects. 4 group busses are also available for sub-mixing.
The MGP channel strip has a clear, easy to use set of controls above with high-grade circuitry below. The D-PRE preamp has been designed to compete with high-end studio preamps, featuring Darlington circuitry for a rich, clear sound that doesn't take anything away from your source material. There's switchable phantom power on each channel too. The desks feature 1-Knob Compressors on each channel, employing an intelligent compression algorithm to give you you essential compression characteristics with just the turn of a dial, no cumbersome outboard gear required. An LED next to each 1-Knob Compressor allows you to see when the compression is kicking in so you can tweak the sound to perfection. No channel strip would meet the standards of a pro-audio enthusiast without high quality EQ and Yamaha does not disappoint with their X-pressive EQ circuitry. The X-pressive EQ captures the highly sought after feel of classic vintage EQs through Virtual Circuit Modelling, giving you the same distinct equalisation characteristics that has made these EQs a firm favourite with sound engineers.
Each MGP mixing console features not one but two integrated effects units based on classic Yamaha standalone outboard effects. The REV-X gives you a choice of rich, high-resolution reverbs for any application. The SPX gives the same quality of sound but with multi-effects including delay and chorus. Both effects can be run and controlled at the same time.
Yamaha's talent for innovation has produced the Hybrid Channel, combining the best of digital and analogue to provide the user with useful features you won't find on any other console. Ever been at a venue where the pre-recorded music kept dipping and rising in level as songs changed? Yamaha have the solution with the Hybrid Channel leveller. This is an intelligent compressor that matches the sound going through it to a set level, so you can leave the fader alone and just let the music play. Stereo is great on your hi-fi but at a venue it can leave half the audience only hearing half the mix. The Stereo Image tool allows you to narrow or eliminate the stereo field, distributing sound evenly to the whole audience. The Priority Ducker brings a convenient vox priority function to the user, dipping the music down when announcements made then smoothly fading it up to its original level. The iPod/iPhone is ever becoming an essential tool in the sound engineer's arsenal. The MGP series fully integrates with your iPod via a USB port. The MGP editor allows in depth control of all the digital elements of the console, including the effects and the Hybrid Channels. High quality digital playback of music is also featured, giving a much higher quality compared to using an analogue connection. With all this quality electronics you want to know your investment is well protected. MGP Series consoles are housed in a durable metal chassis that is designed to take a beating. All units also feature rack ears and a universal power supply so they can be used anywhere in the world.
